Ecotopia is produced by Pangea Kali Virga, created in community workshops, and commissioned by Vizcaya Museum and Gardens.

THE VISION
Vizcaya Museum and Gardens continues the tradition of summer art-making workshops with the launch of Pangea Kali Virga’s Ecotopia, an artistic space and series of FREE workshops focused on promoting creativity, collaboration, and sustainability. This initiative emphasizes that anyone can be an artist and that we can all make a difference in caring for our community and the environment.
“It is all made possible through shared resources and shared effort-- and most importantly, shared fun,” says Kali Virga, the creative mind behind the series. “Ecotopia puts art and environment at the front of the conversation on how to strengthen and build our communities. All are invited to come join us to build our cooperative Utopian Town Square.” The program is made up of eight community art events covering different disciplines, from painting and cooking to mending and planting, as well as a Finale Town Square Festival.
The events take place from July 8 through July 30, 2023, in the historic garage at Vizcaya Village.
The series is designed to highlight sustainable practices, the unique ecology of South Florida and the act of sharing with a cumulative finale -- the Utopic Town Square Festival.
SUSTAINABILITY GUIDE +
Swap shop
Pangea DESIGNED ECOTOPIA TO BE AS UPCYCLED AND ZERO WASTE AS POSSIBLE.

We can all make a difference by choosing more sustainable actions and teaming up with local organizations. Pangea put together a Sustainability Guide focusing on sustainable actions both big and small we can take as well as a directory for South Florida organizations focused on the environment, recycling, farming, and more!
In this document you will find tons of tips, links for everything from local compost stations to beach clean up calendars, and so much more.

The Ecotopia Swap Shop and Free Store is in collaboration with ReCreate Miami. All ages are welcome to come and swap and “shop” a mix of gently used clothing, accessories, books, art supplies, home goods, and native plants located inside of Vizcaya Village. The Ecotopia Swap Shop is included in every Ecotopia gathering.

We got to break bread together during our community picnics on July 30 and August 6 and we now have a beautiful Ecotopia Community Cookbook with recipes shared by our community.
